Message First off i am looking to replace my current audio setup with some equipment from this decade. In my car now is some 10 disk CD changer and a old kenwood tape deck. My interior is currently torn out to re trim my interior panels (Thanks to TunerD) I figured their is no better time to buy a new head unit and speakers. I have no plans for a sub yet but eventually will probably get a small 10" in either chris's box or the JL Stealth box

Im a total newb to car audio so just going of my search results and peoples suggestions. Ive been looking at a few headunits 2 or 3 Alpine and a few pioneers. They are listed below, what do you guys think about these units? Pro's/Con's? Suggestions on other models that have similar features.

What features a want
-stupid as it may sound, blue lighting and black in color to match interior
-ipod control and capatability
-room for expansion, if when i want better speakers and a sub this unit is capable.
-Simple design clean
-Mp3

This is basically what i looked for with the help of a few friends who new audio better than me.

Alpine 9886 on crutchfield

Alpine 9886 on their site

Pioneer 690ub

Pioneer 590ib

I like the looks of these units and they seem to be generally he same features. I'm just looking for opinions and comparisons on these headunits.

One last thing, i haven't got to do near as much research on speakers but since i have my headunit generally picked out im looking as speakers. I understand MB quartz is the best, and infinity's are very good as well. How much does a good pair of speakers usually cost? Everything i look at is on sale so its hard to see the ballpark prices.

Anyway through quick searches i found MB quartz are very good and infinity kappa's are really nice. Suggestions on speakers from the audiophiles? I'm looking for good clear quality sound, like i said not to concerned about bass right now. If i feel the need for a sub down the road ill buy one. I don't really want the hassle of a components either since im not huge into audio. SO suggestions on a good 2 or 3 way speaker set-up.

Thanks for reading, suggestions, opinions, and pro's/con's are all im looking for thanks...
